Speech Contests
Put your speaking skills into practice through Toastmasters speech contests. Members can take part in contests at club level and, where eligible and successful, progress to Area, Division and District level contests. These experiences will challenge you to push your boundaries and gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.
Leadership Roles
As you progress on your Toastmasters journey, you’ll develop leadership skills by taking on meeting roles. You’ll then have the opportunity to take on club officer and other leadership roles within the club. From facilitating meetings to supporting fellow members, you’ll gain practical experience in communication, teamwork, organisation and leadership.
Recognition and Achievement
Celebrate your progress as you complete projects, learning paths and educational milestones. Toastmasters International recognises members’ educational achievements, while our club celebrates the effort, commitment and progress that make every member’s journey unique.

A typical meeting includes prepared speeches, impromptu speeches (known as Table Topics) and constructive speech evaluations. You’ll see members honing their skills, sharing feedback and supporting one another.
Guests are welcome to attend two meetings for free, and you can simply observe or take part as much as you feel comfortable.

We are a non-profit run by our members. Your membership fees contribute towards Toastmasters International dues and the costs of running our club.

When does London Toastmasters meet?
We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
What time does the meeting start?
Our meetings start promptly at 18:30. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early, at 18:20, to allow time to register, settle in and meet some of our members before the meeting begins.
How long does a meeting last?
Our meetings last approximately two hours, finishing at around 20:30.
Where do you meet?
We meet in London, approximately 15 minutes from London Bridge. Check our Eventbrite page for the venue details and directions for each upcoming meeting.
Do I need to book before attending?
We recommend reserving a free guest place through Eventbrite so that we know to expect you and can make sure you receive the relevant meeting details.
Is it free to attend?
Yes! Guests can attend our meetings for free. You are welcome to visit before deciding whether Toastmasters is right for you.
What happens at a typical meeting?
A typical meeting includes prepared speeches, impromptu speaking (known as Table Topics) and constructive speech evaluations. Members also take on different meeting roles, giving them opportunities to practise their communication and leadership skills.
Do I have to speak at my first meeting?
Not at all! You are welcome to observe and get a feel for the club. If you would like to take part in Table Topics or another activity, you are welcome to do so, but there is no pressure.
What is Toastmasters International?
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that helps people develop their communication and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.
Do I need to be good at public speaking to join?
Absolutely not! Toastmasters is for people of all experience levels, from complete beginners to experienced speakers. You learn by practising, receiving feedback and developing at your own pace.
Is Toastmasters just about public speaking?
No. Alongside public speaking, members develop skills in leadership, listening, giving feedback, facilitating meetings and communicating effectively in everyday and professional situations.
What is Table Topics?
Table Topics is an impromptu speaking activity in which members practise speaking for a short time on a topic they haven’t prepared in advance. Guests may be invited to take part, but it’s entirely optional.
What is the Toastmasters Pathways learning experience?
Pathways is Toastmasters International’s education programme, designed to help members develop communication and leadership skills through structured projects and learning paths. Members work towards their goals through practical activities, speeches and feedback.
Do I need to be a member to attend?
No. Anyone interested in developing their communication and leadership skills is welcome to visit our club as a guest. Membership is only required to access the full member education programme and member benefits.
